Dear Readers,
As we approach the joyous occasion of Waste and Recycling Workers Week, we are filled with gratitude for the incredible support and recognition that this vital community has received. This year, we have witnessed an astonishing 30% increase in proclamations from mayors, governors, and leaders around the world, affirming the importance of this week of celebration.
Communities have rallied together, engaging in the festivities by greeting their local waste and recycling truck drivers with treats and heartfelt gratitude, a remarkable 50% increase from previous years. This outpouring of support has been a testament to the hard work and dedication of these essential workers.

We are also thrilled to announce that our educational initiative, The Recycle Guide, has gained national recognition, reaching countless public schools and homeschoolers across the country. To learn more about this impactful program, visit www.therecycleguide.org.
In a significant milestone, we are getting closer to having an official US Postal Service stamp that recognizes the invaluable contributions of waste and recycling workers. This recognition would be a powerful symbol of appreciation for their tireless efforts.
Furthermore, we are proud to share that SWANA has successfully worked to pass legislation to establish an official Waste and Recycling Workers Week holiday. This achievement is a testament to the hard work and advocacy of our organization and its supporters.
Lastly, we are delighted to report that the Lonnie Poole Golf Tournament was a resounding success. The funds raised from this event will go towards assisting workers who have been injured on the job, providing them with much-needed support and resources.
As we celebrate Waste and Recycling Workers Week from June 17th to June 21st, we invite you to join us in expressing our heartfelt gratitude to these unsung heroes. Their dedication and hard work ensure that our communities remain clean, safe, and sustainable.
Let us come together to honor these remarkable individuals and show our support for the vital work they do every day.
With gratitude, John D. Arwood Founder, Waste and Recycling Workers Week
