Background
The Bureau of Labor Statistics 2024 report released data on the most dangerous jobs in the U.S. and it was revealed that solid waste collection workers rose from 7th to 4th on the list. All solid waste and recycling employers—from large national firms and major regional operators to small haulers, municipal sanitation departments—face common safety challenges. Waste Advantage held Virtual Safety Summit in March 2025 that attracted more than 800 registrants and over 500 attendees, including representatives from all of the largest solid waste companies in the U.S.
