City of Kamloops garbage truck driver receivers a gift from Madi

KAMLOOPS — It was a heart-warming first meeting this morning for an Aberdeen girl and “her friend.”

Jen Barter says her three-and-a-half year old daughter Madi waits every garbage day to wave to the City of Kamloops garbage truck driver, who always takes time to stop and wave.

Even though they had never met, Barter says Madi called the driver “her friend.”

This week, Madi had the opportunity to present the driver, Dave, with a hand-coloured Christmas card and a small gift.

Barter says she was eager to share the story as an example of the holiday spirit that exudes naturally from “the hearts of young ones here in our community.”
