Cosumnes firefighters on Aug. 22 extinguished a fire that broke out in a Republic Services garbage truck in Elk Grove. The driver reportedly dumped the bags out of the truck right after seeing the fire. Cosumnes Fire Chief Mike McLaughlin told the Citizen that it’s difficult for his staff to determine the fire’s origin since the burning materials were displaced from the truck.
