The year was 1932, the Great Depression had started and many were struggling to find income, or even essentials needed to survive. Just outside Cincinnati, in Carthage, OH, William F. Rumpke was also working hard to put food on the table. He fixed up some old trucks from the junkyard and enlisted relatives to search for garbage to feed a few pigs he had earned in a recent business transaction.
