Comments: David Legros, 60, of Rapid City passed away Tuesday of complications related to a medical condition suffered while working his collection route Jan. 5.

Legros had climbed into the compactor on his truck to pull out a trash container when he had a medical emergency.

Legros had been hospitalized since the incident.

Legros had worked for the city for 19 years and was retired from a 20-year career in the US Air Force.

“David was a valued City employee and was a great friend and coworker to all who knew and worked with him,” said Rapid City Mayor Steve Allender. “Our heartfelt condolences go to David’s wife, Deb, and family at this time.”

We will not forget you, David Legros.
