Jacksonville’s First Annual Waste & Recycling Workers Week Celebration – Update

We are planning Jacksonville’s First Annual Waste and Recycling Workers Week Celebration on June 11th from 11am-1pm. We are celebrating Waste and Recycling Workers Week (www.garbagemanday.org) by sharing our love of these hardworking professionals with the children in the community. We invite you (the young and the young at heart) to tour garbage trucks (provided by Arwood Waste & Demolition and COJ) and shake hands with garbage professionals in the community, as well as take home coloring books and balloons. The holiday is celebrated the week of June 17th each year and we want to encourage children to honor the people who take care of their garbage by coloring them a page from the coloring book or giving them a gift to show their appreciation.

The Jacksonville Sharks will be on site to get the party started!

Floaters Portable Sanitation will provide portable toilets for a fun art project for everyone!

Bold City Pops and Hot Diggity Dawgs will be available for lunch.

A big thank you to Action News Jax for covering the event and Jacksonville Moms Blog for promoting it.

The event is being held at Sheffield Elementary School at 13333 Lanier Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32226 on June 11th from 11am-1pm.  Overflow parking is available in the field north of the school.
