Mayor BJ Murphy, And The City Of Kinston Acknowledge The first Waste and Recycling Workers Week Is Today

The first Waste and Recycling Workers Week is today, and the City of Kinston and its Environmental Services Section are asking everyone to thank their garbage man or woman. City Environmental Services Superintendent Ruth Tanner agrees that waste collectors should be acknowledged for the tough work they do. Having a specific day to do so brings focus to those who do the work and educates the residents on how they can help. Mayor BJ Murphy will present a proclamation at the City Council meeting tonight recognizing the day. Environmental Services staff members will be on hand. When you see a solid waste worker today, probably in one of these Environmental Services trucks, say hello and thanks, leave them a note, or hand them a cold bottle of water.
