Remembering John: Sanitation Workers for Jesus

Many of you had the privilege of knowing my father, John C. Arwood. Some called him “Papa Arwood” while others called him “Jack,” but all who knew him can attest to his character and unwavering faith.

A deeply grateful man, my father was famous for saying “Thank you, Jesus” in nearly every circumstance, good or bad. While he was proud of the family and business God blessed him with, his passion for serving others and following Christ steered his every word and deed.

As a follower of Jesus since 1976 and full-time sanitation worker since 1984, John knew what it meant to serve others with humility, always displaying a commitment to honesty and his faith in Jesus. This commitment applied to not just his business and personal relationships, but to all areas of his life.

Today, on what would have been my father’s 79th birthday, I invite you to continue his legacy of serving and loving others through Sanitation Workers for Jesus. We built this website with a simple goal: to be a place of inspiration and support for the sanitation workers who, like John, tirelessly serve their communities every day.

Our sanitation workers face many unique challenges and dangers in an often thankless job. By sharing in the teaching of the Gospel and encouraging each other in our faith, we can stand together as Christian brothers and sisters while continuing John’s legacy of faith and service.

We invite you to share in fellowship with other Christ-followers through our devotionals, and send any prayer requests you may have through our Contact page.

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds…” Hebrews 10:24
