Celebrate Waste & Recycling Workers Week

June 10, 2021

Mark your calendars – the week of June 17th is Waste and Recycling Workers Week! This special occasion serves as a wonderful reminder to thank our essential waste and recycling collection providers, and all those who work in the industry!

At Republic Services, we strive to prioritize and celebrate our waste and recycling workers every single day, which is why we implemented our “Committed to Serve” program in April 2020. Introduced to support our frontline workers throughout the pandemic, Republic Services provided special recognition and financial support to over 28,000 frontline employees. To date, Republic Services has provided $11 million in gift cards to frontline employees to support their local economies and $14 million in Committed to Serve awards of $500 to each of our frontline employees.

Mark your calendars- the week of June 17th is Waste and Recycling Workers Week! This special occasion serves as a wonderful reminder to thank our essential waste and recycling collection providers, and all those who work in this industry!

We hope you’ll join us as we show our appreciation for the hard-working people who serve our communities and are committed to keeping communities clean in a safe and environmentally responsible way. Waste and Recycling Workers Week is sharing a few simple and meaningful ways to thank local waste and recycling workers:

  • Download a printable thank you. Download and print out a card to say thank you. Print it out, fold it, and tape it to the garbage or recycling bin during the week of June 17.
  • Sing their praises. Consider calling your local provider with a word of thanks and sharing your appreciation online with a kind Facebook comment or positive review!
