The Town of Warsaw expressed its gratitude to local sanitation workers with a special lunch on Thursday, June 23 in honor of Waste and Recycling Workers Week.

A week prior to the lunch, a town sanitation worker brought the unique holiday to the attention of Interim Town Manager Lee Capps. Though he had never heard of Waste and Recycling Workers Week before, Capps rose to the occasion and organized an appreciation meal complete with certificates of gratitude and pizza for these often overlooked employees.

Vice Mayor Paul Yackel shared a few words before presenting the workers with certificates.

“Our employees are most important to our town. You see what happens when everything shuts down, and you guys have never stopped working, no matter the weather. We’ve had no complaints here and that’s a good sign. We thank you,” Yackel said.
