Recognizing the Waste Industry
With every celebration and proclamation issued by a city, state or company, we see hundreds of individuals in the waste and recycling industry recognized for their hard work and contribution to society. Without these valuable sanitation and recycling services, we would not enjoy clean streets, litter-free streams, or safety from diseases that spread through waste accumulation. That is why we are asking you to join us in requesting a commemorative stamp to honor the people in the waste and recycling industry.
Request a Commemorative Stamp for the Waste Industry
Help gain recognition for our hardworking garbage and recycling workers by submitting a request to the Citizen’s Stamp Advisory Committee (CSAC). The Citizen’s Stamp Advisory Committee (CSAC) is responsible for selecting subjects and recommending future stamp issues. Your request must be submitted in writing by U.S. mail to:
Stamp Development
Attn: Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee
475 L’Enfant Plaza SW, Room 3300
Washington, DC 20260-3501
Requests should include historical information and any important dates associated with the subject in your proposal. More details on stamp subject selection criteria can be viewed at USPS.com.
The more information included in the waste industry commemorative stamp proposal, the more seriously it will be considered by the Citizen’s Stamp Advisory Committee. Need some help with the details? Check out 10 Major Dates in Garbage Man History to help you get started.
Why Should the Waste Industry Get a Stamp?
The waste industry has arguably made one of the largest positive contributions to life in America. The men and women of the waste management and recycling industry have helped protect our environment by helping household waste arrive at proper facilities instead of littered in our communities. Proper waste management has contributed to the eradication of multiple diseases. Responsible disposal and waste management keeps our resources, such as waterways featured in the Wild and Scenic Rivers stamps, clean and safe.
The list of positive impacts made by the waste industry goes on and on. And nearly every municipality, town, city and state enjoy the benefits of the hard working men and women of the waste and recycling industry.
Throughout the years, the waste industry and its workers have made extraordinary contributions to our communities, our country and the environment. Recognizing these men and women with a commemorative stamp is a small but significant way to say “Thank you” for their hard work.
